About Satisfy Food Rescue
We are a Kaiapoi based charity that rescues edible surplus food from local food retailers that would otherwise have ended up in landfill or as animal feed. We distribute the food to local community organisations that help families and people in need.
We currently support 24 community organisations with the help of 35 volunteers and rescue 8 to 10 tonne of food per month.

Our demonstrators/speakers
Phillipa Hunt
I am privileged to be your yoga teacher for the Living Better with Satisfy morning. I have practiced yoga for 15 years and taught for almost 10 years – teaching a weekly class for many years at both the Waikuku Beach Hall and at my workplace, and most recently substitute teaching at Active Zen Yoga in Pegasus.
I love the grace and strength practiced in yoga and the vital awareness it brings to body, mind and spirit. Our Living Better with Satisfy class will be a fun, energising class suitable for all yoga levels. I look forward to seeing you in the class!
Mette Flaaten
I am an Integrative Health Coach, I love everything to do with health and I'm in awe of our magnificent and fascinating human bodies. I help people get to the bottom of their health issues by finding out what is the root cause of their struggles through a thorough coaching program and/or functional medicine lab testing. I love helping people realize that time is not an excuse to eat poorly but the perfect reason to clever, efficient & productive food planning! Your health and wallet will thank you!
I'm a keen weekend warrior who loves anything outdoors. I'm a very keen home chef and LOVE cooking up a storm, especially experimenting with all things refined sugar, gluten & dairy free. I can't wait to share with you my best tips for cost and time efficient food planning & bach cooking! Plus some epic ideas for school lunchboxes!
Cat Scott-Hewitt
I am a professional chef, caterer and event planner with a passion for fast, fresh, seasonal, healthy food cooked in efficient and uncomplicated ways. I specialise in cooking for specific dietary requirements and enjoy cooking with limited ingredients.
My other interests include beachwalking with my dogs, edible gardening, foraging and travelling.
As a chef I am always looking at ways to elevate the flavour profile of food and make it the best it can be. Today I will be discussing the best ways to utilise food to its fullest and not waste any of it or its flavour.
Tania Hollander
Hi my name is Tania and for some time I have been interested in making my own beauty products without additives, that are easy to make, actually work, using ingredients that are readily available and are affordable.
My hand cream doubles as a massage oil, is great on lips, dry hands, and dry and cracked heels. It can also be rubbed into soles of feet at night to help with a good nights sleep with the lavender oil in it. Although it may seem greasy it rubs in well and a little goes a long way. Once you start making this cream yourself, you are sure to get orders from your friends!
Cushla Fitzgibbon
I am a 'Foodie' person who loves making cheese and experimenting with nutritious ingredients to create healthy treats for everyone!
I love my job as a teacher and offset the demands of teaching with cooking, tramping, mountain biking and crochet!
I never stick to a recipe and so everything I create tastes different each time (much to my children's disapproval)! I love to play around with ingredients and use what is in season or simply just what I have at the time..... being careful to not waste anything! Hence the beetroot bounty bites which I will be demonstrating how to make.
Bumble Bums Stall
Nikita from Bumble Bums will have a small stall on the day with her beautiful range of bee products for sale. To find out more about the products visit the Bumble Bums Facebook page here.
